MEMBERS of Blandford and District Lions celebrated their 40th anniversary with a dinner at the town's Crown Hotel.

Guests at the celebration on Saturday 23rd February included District Governor Roger Munday from Fleet Lions and his Vice Governor David Merchant from Newbury Lions. Members of neighbouring Lions clubs also attended.

Another special guest was Albert Whittle of Wimborne and Ferndown Lions, who was the founding father of Blandford Lions when they received their Charter in 1973. He was asked to cut the cake and was ably assisted by Henry Cuff, the longest serving current member who joined the club just six months after it had been formed.

The Lions and their guests were entertained by Spetisbury duo Take Two and pupils of The Blandford School with whom Blandford Lions have a long association.
