Bisi moving on to Wiltshire
GILLINGHAM'S community development worker for the last two years, Bisi Adekunle, has left the town to live with her husband in North Wiltshire following their recent marriage.
Speaking at a community partnership presentation evening at the Olive Bowl last month, she said: "It has been a wonderful job here and, historically speaking, Gillingham is different from other towns. At the end of the 80s it was quite a small agricultural town with a distinct centre at the old market place, but when that closed there was huge rapid growth from a population of 5,000 to 12,000 and no definite centre. The task is to turn a weakness or threat into a strength or opportunity."
