Biker is badly injured in tractor collision

A MOTORCYCLIST who was in collision with a tractor in Sherborne was airlifted to hospital suffering severe injuries.

Two motorcyclists were involved in a collision with a tractor and trailer on the B3145, Bristol Road, near Poyntington, at around 7.30pm on Thursday.

It is believed that both motorcyclists were travelling northbound from the Sherborne direction when the lead motorcycle, a blue and silver Suzuki GSX 1300, ridden by a 38-year-old Dorchester man, struck the rear of the tractor and trailer.

He suffered serious injuries and the road was closed while he was airlifted to Southampton hospital. His condition is now being described as serious but stable.

The second motorcyclist, a 30 year old, also from Dorchester, lost control of his bike but did not suffer any injury.

The driver of the tractor, a 43 year old from Sturminster Newton, was not injured in the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact investigating officer Andrew Gold on 101 quoting incident number 23:500.
