She added: "People have known privately for some time that I intended to stand down at the next General Election. I shall be 68 by then which seems to be the right time to retire, especially since my accident last year. I am looking forward to spending more time in Dorset with my family and giving more support to several local children's charities of which I am a patron but for the next two years I shall be working hard in the Constituency and at Westminster. Currently, I am working to improve conditions for people with the debilitating condition ME, participating in an Inquiry into older people and breast cancer, serving on the committee for the Children's and Families Bill and much more."
