AFC Bournemouth have approach Burnley FC in order to lure manager Eddie Howe into a spectacular return to the Cherries hot-seat.

Howe is yet to comment on the speculation, linking him with a return to Bournemouth after nearly two years at Turf Moor. However Burnley chairman Lee Hoos confirmed the Dorset side had made an approach for the 34-year-old.

"No permission has been granted for Bournemouth to speak to Eddie."

It is thought Howe wants to return to Bournemouth for personal reasons. The ex-Cherries defender spent over ten years at The Goldsands Stadium as a player, before starting his managerial career at Bournemouth in 2008.

Howe helped the Cherries retain their league status and guided them to promotion back to League One.

The Cherries take on Leyton Orient tomorrow as they look to end a four-game losing streak.
