Chief executive Martyn Starnes said: “We don’t want to see the stadium empty. The more people in, the more atmosphere and the more atmosphere the better it is for the players to play in.

“At this moment in time the majority of clubs in the Football League are struggling to maintain their attendances and we have come to the conclusion that the common denominator is the current economic situation.

“We have to realise that is an issue and do what we can to try and encourage people to spend some of their leisure money at Yeovil Town.

“We want to try and engage with families. There is a lot of competition for their time and leisure spend. We wanted to come up with an initiative where we address concerns about the engagement of local people and local fans.”
